Experience of a destructive cyclone - Umphun

                       I live in a small village of South 24 parganas. The date was 20 May, 2020. On this day there was a forecast and of cyclone- Umphun. Our government had announced the approximate time of the cyclone. So, according to the time, I fell asleep after having lunch a little earlier than usual to see the nature's destruction in the afternoon. Then I woke up at around 3.30 pm and sat on the verandah. I saw that the storm had almost started. And with it there was light rain. As time went on, the destruction of nature continued to increase. The trees looked as if someone was trying to uproot them forcefully. Seeing the coconut trees, it seemed that a woman with open hair, someone was trying to throw her by holding neck on the ground. Hearing the sound of the wind, it seemed as if Mother Nature was screaming in anger. I took some photos and videos at that time. Then I became speechless while watching the destruction of nature, suddenly I heard some loud noise and came out of the house and looked at the yard. I saw that all the asbestos of the two-story had broken and fell in the yard. Just then the trees in the yard broke down with a loud noise. Throughout the afternoon I was just watching someone's house break down, trees break down, and so on. After about 9:30 pm, the storm seemed to subside. 

                    I woke up the next morning and saw that the whole neighborhood had become a crematorium, the trees that survived from the storm are standing silently, many trees have been broken, many people became homeless, looked like that the whole neighborhood had been destroyed. Our electrical system was cut off from the afternoon of the stormy day, After about 22 days our power system was turned on.    

        These few days we spent without any electrical appliances. The experience of these days shown us how much we have improved from the previous society and electricity is how much important in our life. If anyone is interested to know the experience of these days, please let us know through the comments.

                           দক্ষিণ 24 পরগনা'র  খুবই ছোট্ট এবং সাধারন একটি গ্রামে আমি বাস করি। সালটা হল দুই হাজার কুড়ি তারিখ টা ছিল কুড়ি মে। সরকার থেকে ঝড় আসার পূর্বাভাস দেওয়ার কারণে ঝড়ের সময়টা জানা ছিল, তাই সময় অনুযায়ী সেদিন বিকালে প্রকৃতির তান্ডব দেখার জন্য প্রতিদিনের থেকে কিছুক্ষণ আগে দুপুরের খাবার খেয়ে ঘুমিয়ে পড়েছিলাম। তারপর প্রায় বিকাল সাড়ে তিনটে নাগাদ ঘুম থেকে উঠে বারান্দায় বসলাম, দেখলাম ঝড় প্রায় শুরু হয়ে গেছে। আর তার সাথে ছিল হালকা বৃষ্টিপাত। যতই দুপুর গড়িয়ে বিকাল হতে লাগলো প্রকৃতির তান্ডব আরো বাড়তে থাকল। গাছগুলিকে দেখে মনে হচ্ছিল কেউ যেন জোর করে উপড়ে দেওয়ার চেষ্টা করছে। নারকেল গাছগুলি দেখে মনে হচ্ছিল দাঁড়িয়ে থাকা খোলা চুলে কোন নারীকে ঘাড় ধরে মাটিতে ফেলা প্রচন্ড চেষ্টা চলছে। বাতাসের শব্দ শুনে মনে হচ্ছিল প্রকৃতি মাতা যেন ক্রোধে চিৎকার করছে। সেই সময় কিছু ফটো এবং ভিডিও তুলেছিলাম। এরপর নির্বাক হয়ে প্রকৃতির তান্ডব দেখার সময় হঠাৎ প্রচন্ড জোরে কিছু ভাঙার শব্দ পেয়ে ঘর থেকে বেরিয়ে উঠানের দিকে তাকালাম, দেখলাম দোতলার ঘরের সমস্ত অ্যাসবেসটস ভেঙে উঠানে পড়ছিল। ঠিক তখনই উঠানের মধ্যে থাকা গাছগুলি প্রচন্ড শব্দে সাথে ভেঙে পড়লো। সারা বিকাল জুড়ে শুধু কারো ঘরের চাল ভেঙে যাচ্ছে, গাছ ভেঙে যাচ্ছে ইত্যাদি দেখছিলাম। প্রায় রাত সাড়ে ন'টার পর ঝড় যেন একটু কমেছিল।

                   
             পরের দিন সকালে উঠে দেখেছিলাম সারা পাড়া যেন শ্মশান হয়ে গেছে, ঝড়ে বেঁচে যাওয়া  গাছগুলি নিস্তব্ধ হয়ে দাঁড়িয়ে আছে, কত গাছ পড়ে গেছে, কত মানুষের ঘর ভেঙেছে, পুরো পাড়াটা যেন ধ্বংস হয়ে গেছে। ঝড়ের দিন বিকাল থেকে আমাদের বৈদ্যুতিক ব্যবস্থা বন্ধ হয়ে গিয়েছিল, প্রায় 22 দিন পর আমাদের বিদ্যুৎ ব্যবস্থা চালু হয়েছে।

            
         এই কয়েকদিন আমরা কোনো বৈদ্যুতিক যন্ত্র ছাড়া দিন অতিবাহিত করেছিলাম। এই দিনগুলির অভিজ্ঞতা যেন বুঝিয়ে দিয়ে গেল আমরা কতটা উন্নত হয়ে গেছি আগের সমাজের থেকে এবং বিদ্যুৎ আমাদের জীবনে ঠিক কতটা গুরুত্বপূর্ণ। এই দিনগুলির অভিজ্ঞতার কথা যদি কেউ জানতে ইচ্ছুক হন নিচে কমেন্টে জানাবেন।
